“No boundaries.”

”…superb craftsmanship, trend-forward innovation, and advanced technology.”

“…tests and re-tests every facet of each and every prototype.”

At first glance, these three phrases easily could describe the intense competition and revolutionary sports cars that make up the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. However, these phrases also highlight the mission of Skeleton Optics, a business that specializes in designing and manufacturing custom sunglasses.

With so much in common it was just a matter of time before these two enterprises came together. Today IMSA and Skeleton Optics announced a strategic alliance that will make it easier than ever for IMSA fans and the sunglass-wearing public to get their hands on these high-quality eyewear products.

Clearly, the alliance is a perfect fit.

It’s a passion for sports cars that drives race fans to IMSA, and it’s a passion for adventure that drove co-owners Marine veteran Mark Llano and his fiancée Lori Stanek to purchase the company, based in Wellington, Florida, in 2015.

With frames manufactured in Italy and polarized lenses created by renowned Carl Zeiss Vision, Skeleton Optics prides itself on selling a product that can withstand nature’s elements, while also incorporating state-of-the-art technology. And with five categories of sunglasses perfectly suited for any adventurist’s needs, Skeleton Optics will never stop innovating and will steadfastly pursue superior quality for its followers.

Much like IMSA’s sports cars.

“What IMSA and Skeleton are passionate about is what our fans are customers are passionate about,” Brandon Huddleston, IMSA senior director, corporate partnership said. “Skeleton’s products are a perfect accessory for IMSA fans and we should be seeing plenty of pairs in the paddock and around the track we will visit in 2018 and beyond.”

And while the partnership between IMSA and Skeleton Optics was put to paper only recently, the link between the two was formed several years ago.

After purchasing a Porsche and attending the Rolex 24 At Daytona, Llano became hooked on sports car racing and quickly took to the track himself in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA. That connection, established in 2013, allowed Llano to combine his sense of adventure and honor those in the military through his work.

Additionally, Llano’s Skeleton Optics colleague Howard Jacobs raced in the IMSA Prototype Challenge Presented by Mazda in 2017, finishing 10th in the MPC class point standings.

As a way to give back to IMSA fans, Skeleton Optics is now offering a 15% discount on all its products with the code IMSA15.

“We are thrilled to be named the Preferred Sunglasses of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship,” said Llano. “From having competed in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge series for three years and having met Howard Jacobs (current IMSA driver) through our passion for racing, I can personally say that IMSA shares many of the same principles that Skeleton Optics was founded on.

“Our slogan is No Boundaries, as we believe, much like IMSA does, that you leave it all out on the track in your pursuit of excellence.  Whether in the pit or where ever else life takes you, there is no substitute when it comes to lens technology, which is why we selected polarized lenses manufactured by Carl Zeiss Vision, and handcrafted frames designed and manufactured in Italy. We look forward to introducing all the competitors and fans of IMSA racing to the Skeleton Optics family.”
